A Casper man faces allegations he assaulted a Wal-Mart security officer who suspected him of trying to shoplift football cards and a calculator on Black Friday.
John David Christensen, 24, was arrested Friday morning on suspicion of assault after the security officer reported the incident at the westside Wal-Mart.
The security officer told police he saw Christensen allegedly conceal a calculator and 11 packs of pro football cards inside a plastic tote box, according to a police officer's sworn statement. The security officer said he was punched and elbowed when he tried to stop Christensen from leaving the store.
The security officer, with the help of another employee, got control of Christensen and handcuffed him.
Police who responded noticed a red lump on the security officer's forehead, along with a couple of small cuts on his head, the affidavit states.
Christensen denied stealing anything from the store, according to police. He was arrested and booked into Natrona County Detention Center.
The calculator and football cards were valued at $69.15.
